OS4 to Support Multiple Windows Expose Feature

March 31, 2010

But the best news is that the standard expose feature that we’ve come to know and love will become a vital part of the new OS.

The technology, detailed by people familiar with Apple’s plans for the new firmware, will finally allow users to launch multiple apps in the background and quickly switch between them, as AppleInsider exclusively reported earlier this month. Currently, a running app must be quit when the user returns to the Home screen.

Apple stated that earlier models of the iPhone did not allow the multi-window expose feature due to the limitations of system resources. Batteries would drain faster and the system would slow down or even crash due to the overload created by running multiple apps.

OS4 seems to remedy this issue. Here’s to hoping that’s true.
