HTC Evo available June 4th for $199

May 13, 2010

The much anticipated 4G phone on the Sprint Network, the HTC Evo will be available next month.

From CNET:

NEW YORK–Sprint CEO Dan Hesse finally revealed the pricing and release date of the much anticipated HTC Evo 4G at a special event here Wednesday. The nation’s first 4G smartphone will be available starting June 4 for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate. The Android device will also be sold through national retailers, including Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Wal-Mart Stores.

And the biggest question of all… How much is the data plan? After all Sprint has been rather vague about the issue since the debut of its 4G network.

we have confirmed with Sprint and HTC representatives that the Evo 4G will require an Everything Data Plan, which starts at $69.99 per month, and a $10 “Premium Data Add-on” for WiMax, regardless of whether you live in a 4G coverage area. The thought is that with the add-on, you’ll be able to take advantage of 4G speeds if you happen to travel to a supported market.

So, if everything works out well, this new Android powered phone could raise the bar for smart phones for quite some time. At the moment the Evo out specs pretty much every other phone on the market in virtually every way possible.

I have been a sprint customer for seven years now and I really interested in the HTC Evo 4G, however, I would like to see if I can get it for a lower cost by renewing a contract. I have another company offering me a good deal on the iphone but i really didnt want to change services. I hope to continue service with sprint. Please inform me with any discounts or offers that can be made in regards to getting this phone and staying with sprint.
    Thanks,
    Monique
